Effective sustainability organization within a company is based on clearly defined responsibilities.
The sustainability management function was therefore created to enable the effective management of relevant tasks and to ensure the rigorous implementation of measures to achieve our sustainability goals.
Sustainability should be an integral part of our corporate structure – with the aim of embedding it permanently in all areas and ensuring that all employees actively live it in their everyday work.
The ESG organization, which will be implemented at RAG in 2024, has an interdisciplinary structure and includes representatives from various departments at RAG.
As the highest management body, the Executive Board bears overall responsibility for the company's sustainability strategy. It defines the strategic objectives, initiates appropriate measures for implementation and, in the form of the Sustainability Board, forms the top of the ESG organization. The Steering Committee ensures that sustainability activities are consistent with the strategic ESG objectives and monitors their operational implementation.
The ESG core team coordinates ESG issues across the company, provides technical and organizational support to the ESG organization and ensures the implementation of ESG goals. The ESG working groups implement specific measures, monitor their progress and contribute their respective technical expertise.
